The 2014 edition of CinemaItalianStyle – the Los Angeles glamorous showcase for Italian contemporary cinema produced by Luce Cinecittà and the American Cinematheque – takes place this year from November 13th to 18th and it will be dedicated to the producer Franco Cristaldi and his masterpiece Cinema Paradiso, on the twenty-fifth anniversary of its theatrical release. CIS 2014 will present a film and a documentary selection of Italy’s best and most recent productions compiled by the artistic curator Laura DelliColli, including Human Capital by Paolo Virzì, the Italian Entry – Best Foreign Language Film at the 87th Academy Awards®. A rich and talented cast of actors, directors and producers will be in town to introduce the movies and meet with the audience in occasion of the screenings.

This year’s edition includes important collaborations. Following the success of the 2013 screening of Last Emperor restored in 3D by Bernardo Bertolucci,  a new partnership with AFI Fest 2014, which includes, on November 10th, an evening dedicated to one of the greatest Italian director Giuseppe Tornatore, who will present the world premiere of the digital restored version of his Oscar® winning movie “Cinema Paradiso” produced by Franco Cristaldi, realized thanks to the support of Dolce & Gabbana in collaboration with Luce Cinecittà and Cineteca di Bologna.  After three years of growing collaboration, Luce Cinecittà with the Seattle International Film Festival, will present “Cinema Italian Style in Seattle”, from November 14th to 20th, thus allowing titles and talents to reach, after their Los Angeles debut, one of the most vibrant audiences of the United States.

As every year, the Italian Cultural Institute of Los Angeles will support Cinema Italian Style, giving home to a series of initiatives that will enrich the program at the American Cinematheque Theatres. An exhibition, dedicated to Cinema Paradiso by Giuseppe Tornatore, with a selection of the most representative images, posters and  props will be shown in the elegant spaces of the Institute in Hilgard Avenue till the 15th of January 2015.     A rich selection of documentaries will mix great portraits of myths of cinema (Franco Cristaldi, Sophia Loren, Quentin Tarantino) and a special program dedicated to the ninetieth anniversary of the Istituto Luce.
