About TFL Extended – Creative Production
TFL Extended – Creative Production is a new TorinoFilmLab initiative addressed to teams of international professionals (writer/director + producer), with projects at an early development stage and who are willing to dive deep into the writing and productive process along with an intensive development workshop.
This professional training is open to 20 teams of writer/director & producer and it is centred on the in-depth development of their feature-length fiction film projects.
The project-based training is designed to match the needs of professionals who want to develop their skills through concrete work on their projects – under the expert guidance of international high profile tutors – and who are ready to share their ideas with colleagues and engage themselves in discussions in order to improve and increase their knowledge.
The main aspects around which the course is built are: creative development and production, pitching, audience design, sales and distribution, financing and post-production.
All participants will also join the TFL Meeting Event co-production forum (November 23rd and 24th) just after the workshop, and take part to the annual showcase of projects, talents and films developed at TorinoFilmLab. TFL Meeting Event is a moment to meet Decision Makers from all over the world in the fields of production, sales, distribution, public funds and festivals.
Beyond the training, participants will have the chance to join the TFL community of international and high-qualified professionals and to network with their colleagues during the workshop.
Professionals can enhance their skills while initiating productive collaboration and networking with international colleagues.
After the workshop in Turin the participants will re-work their materials and will receive further advices and support on the projects’ development from their tutors with an additional consultancy by Skype.
Who can apply?
TFL Extended – Creative Production is open to professional scriptwriters/directors and producers from all over the world.
It is mandatory to apply as a team of participants: one producer and one writer and/or director.
In case of projects based on novels, short stories or other literary works, applicants must have secured an option for the work they wish to adapt.
The working language of all workshops, meetings and events is English; thus, a good knowledge of English is essential in order to participate.
The selection process of TFL Extended – Creative Production will be the following: each application will be confirmed one week after the registration, according to the compliance and the quality of material and places still available.
Participation fees
Workshop participation fee: 3.000 Euro per team of participants.
Once the application has been confirmed, participants must send a proof of the payment within the following 2 days, or they will lose their place.
This amount covers workshop training and the participation to all TFL Meeting Event activities for both professionals. Participants must pay their travel, board and lodging costs.
Unfortunately, TorinoFilmLab is unable to provide any scholarship for this workshop.
How to apply?
The requested materials – to be submitted all together in one PDF, and all in English – are:
– A project synopsis (1 page maximum) & a treatment (10 pages maximum);
– A director’s/scriptwriter’s intention note (1 page maximum);
– A producer’s intention note (1 page maximum);
– The top-sheet budget
– CVs (2 pages maximum per each CV);
– Materials informing about the audio-visual approach: still pictures, video mood board, etc. – optional;
– A link (with password) to one previous short film or audio-visual work (30 minutes maximum) – optional.

THE WORKSHOP
The workshop is composed of group sessions & one-to-one meetings with TorinoFilmLab experts. Beyond the training, participants will have the chance to join the TorinoFilmLab community of international and high-qualified professionals during the co-production forum TFL Meeting Event.
Writers and directors will work in 5 groups, each guided by a tutor with a wide international experience as a script consultant.
Throughout the workshop, the participants will test the widest range of opportunities for the creative development of their projects by working on the treatment.
Producers will sometimes work together with writers and directors during group sessions and be involved in the creative processes necessary to achieve the best possible result from strong stories. Furthermore, they will attend special masterclasses with international experts and meet them in one-to-one meetings to receive concrete feedbacks on their projects.

Amra Bakšić Čamo
Creative producer
One of the founders of SCCA/pro.ba, an independent production company from Sarajevo, Amra has produced and co-produced awarded short films, art videos, documentaries and features. An Episode in the Life of an Iron Picker by Danis Tanovic won the Jury Grand Prix and the Silver Bear for Best Actor at Berlinale 2013. She is the Head of CineLink, the regional co-production market of Sarajevo Film Festival, and a lecturer at the Sarajevo Academy of Performing Arts, Department Production.
Philippe Barrière

Born in 1978 in Montargis, France, Philippe Barrière has a Masters in philosophy and formal logic at La Sorbonne University. Script consulting is way for him to combine his interest for analysis and his passion for cinema. Over the past years, Philippe Barrière has had several relevant experiences in the field of script consulting such as Head of the development for Mille et une Productions or, since 2010, as an independent script consultant. Trained at TorinoFilmLab (Script&Pitch 2014), Philippe is currently an expert for the TFL Extended initiatives.
Isabelle Fauvel

Isabelle Fauvel Story editor After gathering experience as a producer, Isabelle created Initiative Film in 1993, a company dedicated to film development. She gives lecture in forefront international events, works as a consultant for Creative Europe – MEDIA programmes and collaborates with many film schools. She also facilitates book adaptations through initiatives such as Shoot the Book!, and scouts talents for the Jerusalem Film Lab. Isabelle co-ideated TFL AdaptLab programme.
Jan Naszewski
Sales agent & festival representative
Jan is the owner of the Warsaw-based boutique world sales company New Europe Film Sales, which sells feature films and shorts. The company’s feature films catalogue includes Rams by Grímur Hákonarson (Main Prize at Un Certain Regard 2015; sold to over 40 countries around the world), The Here After by Magnus von Horn (Directors’ Fortnight 2015), and 9 Berlinale titles, including the 2016 Silver Bear winner United States of Love by Tomasz Wasilewski and the Generation winners Violet by Bas Devos and Mother, I Love You by Janis Nords.
Niko Remus
Post-production supervisor
Niko worked in film editing and is now a freelance post-production supervisor and consultant for international projects. His credits include Honey by Semih Kaplanoglu, Hannah Arendt by Margarethe von Trotta, Only Lovers Left Alive by Jim Jarmusch, A Pigeon Sat on a Branch Reflecting on Existence by Roy Andersson and 55 Steps by Bille August. He also works as a content manager at the EP2C workshop, as a trainer at TorinoFilmLab, Berlinale Talents and Rotterdam Lab, and gives lectures in several film schools.
Riema Reybrouck
Audience Design consultant
Riema Reybrouck is a Belgian-Iraqi publicist that has been working in the film industry since 2008 for various production companies and festivals. She founded the Brussels-based PR firm Post Bills in 2015 which promotes films, music, festivals and talent. The aim is to work closely with the creative film team to start audience engagement and press awareness early on in the development phase straight up to the release. Besides managing Post Bills she is also an Audience Design consultant at TorinoFilmLab.
Leonardo Staglianò

Leonardo Staglianò is a writer, screenwriter and playwright. He holds an MA in Philosophy (Università di Firenze), an MA in Techniques of Narration (Scuola Holden, Turin) and an MFA in Dramatic Writing (Tisch School of the Arts at NYU, New York). His short stories have been published in various literary magazines, including the Italian edition of Granta, and his play Cashmere, WA won the Diego Fabbri Prize. He wrote the feature film Yuri Esposito, which won the 1st Biennale College Cinema prize and debuted at the 70th Venice Film Festival. Among the film companies, organizations and institutions he collaborated with are Nisi Masa, Le Groupe Ouest, Doha Film Institute. Currently, he is the Program Coordinator of the Storytelling College at Scuola Holden.
Eva Svenstedt Ward

Eva studied production at National Theatre School of Canada, scriptwriting at Binger Filmlab ans has a MSc from INSEAD, France. Fiction producer for Swedish Television from 1993, she moved to development in 2000, becoming Head of Development in 2004. Among the myriad projects, she script-edited Stieg Larsson’s Millenium Trilogy for SVT. Eva was Creative Producer at Swedish Film on children series The Roofters and recently Executive Script Editor on Yellow Bird‘s 6 feature film adaptations of Liza Marklund’s books.
Gino Ventriglia
Pitching trainer
Gino works as a tutor for TorinoFilmLab as well as for other international development programmes such as Interchange, POWR at the Baltic Event, the Jerusalem Film Lab, Nordic Genre Boost, Bridging the Dragon, and Biennale College – Cinema. He teaches drama writing at the Italian National School of Cinema in Rome and at Scuola Holden in Turin. He arranged the publication of Dancer in the Dark (minimum fax, 1999) and Il Cinema Oltre le Regole – Alternative Scriptwriting (BUR, 2000).
