Law n° 220 of 14 November 2016 “Disciplina del cinema e dell’audiovisivo” establishes the ‘Film and Audiovisual Fund’ aimed at funding works through tax credits, automatic contributions and selective contributions.
Selective contributions, which are governed by the Decree issued by the Ministry for Cultural Heritage and Activities on 31 July 2017, comprising ‘Implementing provisions for the selective contributions indicated in article 26 of Law no. 220 of 14 November 2016’, are granted by the Ministry for Cultural Heritage and Activities for the writing, development, production and national distribution of Italian film and audiovisual works.
The requests for contributions for writing of screenplays for film, television and web products can be presented in the three sessions indicated:
- from 1 July to 26 July;
- from 9 September to 30 September;
- from 28 October to 22 November.
The funding available of €960,000 is divided up as follows:
- feature films: €540,000, divided between the three sessions into €180,000 for each (a maximum of 9 projects will be granted funding at each session);
- feature films for television and the web: €420,000, divided between the three sessions into €140,000 for each (a maximum of 7 projects will be granted funding at each session).
