The 66th Berlinale is hosting the Creative Europe day today, 15 Feburary, at the Ritz Carlton hotel, by hosting a new edition of the European Film Forum and the 25 Years of MEDIA celebration.
The European Film Forum features speeches and panel discussions dedicated to new solutions and services to increase access to European audiovisual content across Europe. Following the welcome note by director general at DG CNECT (European Commission) Roberto Viola, Commissioner for Digital Economy and Society Günther H. Oettinger will address the audience in a keynote speech. Domenico La Porta, editor-in-chief at Cineuropa, will subsequently interview film director Annette K. Olesen (Minor Mishaps, In Your Hands Little Soldier ).
The second discussion will explore new possibilities to access and watch European audiovisual works. European Observatory on Infringements of Intellectual Property Rights’s Alexandra Poch, director of research & development at Zibra Digital Media Group Claus Bülow Christensen and JustWatch Co-Founder and CRO Ingke Weimert will join the discussion.
Both topics will be introduced by Martin Kanzler, film industry analyst at the European Audiovisual Observatory, and the event will be moderated by journalist Jacki Davis.
The Creative Europe day continues then with the announcement of the 25th anniversary of the MEDIA programme, an opportunity to renew its commitment to moving images, moving European works and preserving cultural diversity while adapting to new digital realities. This will include an opening speech by Günther H. Oettinger and an exchange of views with MEP Silvia Costa. Finally, the event will feature different testimonials of actors and directors about the 25 years of MEDIA: Domenico La Porta will also moderate a talk between German producer Janine Jackowski (Tabu, Arabian Nights, Sleeping Sickness, Polish actor Mateusz Kościukiewicz and Danish director Thomas Vinterberg.
